NBA DFS Fav Five: Week Two

This feature will post every Monday. Last week lineup has mixed results. Great production from Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul. Joel Embiid played well but will not be on the court more than 20 minutes. Our other two selections did not score enough points. We need at least 30-35 pts in all scoring categories combine for the player to stay on the team. Horford and George come off. 

We take at least one player is priced lower than the elite ones to make the team fit into a salary cap. Elite players will cost between $9,000 and $12,500. Our cap is approximately $40,000 to $45,000.  

Here are the top selections for this week's favorite 5 for the NBA DFS players and fans. We will add Anthony Davis, Mason Plumlee and Kevin Love. Westbrook and Paul stay.

This Week in Gaming Review

The news from Pennsylvania was bright as of this post. The Pennsylvania House added an amendment to a bill to fix unconstitutional taxes on casinos that will include online gaming and fantasy sports. There is a small window because the State Senate has a limited amount of days left in session during the month of November. If they do not concur, the entire process will start again in 2017. The logical thing to do is to pass the bill and work out the logistics in January. Then the Commonwealth  is guaranteed  new and current revenue streams.

DraftKings and FanDuel are planning to merge according to reports from ESPN Chalk. This was rumored earlier this year but it now appears imminent.

Las Vegas is courting the NBA. MGM CEO Jim Murren is looking at current teams that are looking at relocation. This report is cited by Las Vegas Review Journal. This news is on the heels of the NHL coming to Vegas in 2017 & the Raiders considering a move there as well. This would change the view that sports betting would be bad for the integrity of the games.

NBA DFS Fav Five: Week One

Here are the top selections for this week's season opening favorite 5 for the NBA DFS players and fans. This feature will post every Monday.

We will go with Paul George, Russell Westbrook, Joel Embiid, Al Horford and Chris Paul. We will give reviews of how they are doing.

NBA and GTLivechat

The season starts on Tuesday. Are you ready?  This should be one of the best if not the most anticipated in history. Can the Warriors improve on 73-9?  Can Lebron and the Cavs repeat?
Is Russell Westbrook the leading candidate for MVP?

Can Derrick Rose and Carmelo Anthony make the Knicks relevant again? Who does not make
the playoffs from the group of 2015-16 teams that made it?
Who is the odds on favorite to win the scoring title? Will the Sixers win more than 26 games?
Who has the better season? The Spurs or the Clippers?
The must see on TV games are Warriors against anybody. Redemption games include D Wade and the Bulls against the Heat and Dwight Howard against the Rockets.


GTLivechat will return for all of the above and more. NBA Style will highlight the fashion of the players and the fans. This will be a part of the halftime feature.

We will chat prior to the primetime matchups on Wednesday and Thursday on ESPN and TNT.
When the NFL season ends we will add the Friday games from ESPN and NBA TV.
For all of you that like Daily Fantasy Basketball, we will pick a fav 5 of the week. To keep it exciting, we will change at least 3 of the players every week. This will happen thru the blog and website every Monday.

This Week in Gaming Review

The Taj Mahal Casino Hotel closed it's doors this week. This is the 5th casino to shut down in Atlantic City in the last 2 years. There is a glimmer of hope that the Taj will reopen under new management. If that happens, it should be at a 50% of the gaming experience offered by the prior management team.

This comes on the verge of the election to determine if gaming should expand to north New Jersey.  We support a free market based on supply and demand. If there is a demand in north New Jersey that is not going to Atlantic City, then a gaming expansion is necessary.

Revel is now called TEN

Revel Casino has not given an opening date but they announced a name change. The new name will be TEN. We see this as a welcome break from the past and a transition toward developing a brand new image.“The number ten depicts the highest standard of achievement and is widely recognized as the benchmark of quality and excellence,” TEN spokesman Bob Labanara said in a release. “The TEN brand appropriately reflects its idyllic beachfront setting and complete guest experience as Atlantic City’s flagship property. We look for TEN in 2017.

No news but cautious optimism coming from Pennsylvania. Online Gaming is being discussed in the State Senate. We will provide updates as they come in.

NFL Recap Week 5: Wentz and Prescott

We decided to compare Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott. The Eagles and Cowboys have found two franchise quarterbacks in the same draft. There is no noticeable difference in their statistics. Wentz's lone interception came on the final offensive play of the Eagles loss to Detroit. Prescott has yet to throw a pick.

So who has the better upside?  We am going Prescott. Carson is the 2nd player taken in the 1st round. Dak was taken in the 4th round.  He does not make as much as Carson but is giving the same productivity at the position. He has more value in terms of salary cap. They match up against each other in 3 weeks. That is if Jerry Jones does not pull Prescott and insert Tony Romo back into the lineup.

For the DFS players, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are the dynamic duo. Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown are next. The running back for us is the Cowboy's Ezekiel Elliott. Le'veon Bell of the Steelers is back and ready to rock.  LeSean McCoy rounds out our top 3. Jordan Reed is an Eagles killer and worth looking at this week as a flex.

Top Three Things about Bally's Las Vegas

The top three things we noticed about Bally's Las Vegas include the Race and Sports Book.  They have great beverage service and give out drink tickets if you have a Total Rewards Card. You must wager a certain amount to get the tickets. They did not have the most to date future proposition bets on the NBA available. They did have #DFS wagering with USFantasy.

The location of Bally's is great. The Monorail has a stop that enable you to go to the other property on the strip without having to hail a cab. You are in walking distance of Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and Paris.

The cost to stay at Bally's is extremely affordable. Keep in mind it is an older hotel and the rooms are not as glitzy as some of the newer places in town. This means more money to dine and gamble.

NFL Week Five Preview: Undefeated Teams

We see that week four has 3 undefeated teams left. The Broncos, Vikings and Eagles. All 3 are relative surprises. Denver had uncertainty with the QB position starting the season. The Vikings acquired Sam Bradford only days before the season started. Philly's Wentz Wagon was 3rd on the depth charts during preseason.

Each team is playing outstanding defense. Philly, Denver and Minnesota are ranked 3rd, 4th and 7th, respectively,in total defense. The ESPN rankings have Denver as the best team in the NFL with the Vikings 5th and the Eagles 7th.

So who's 0 goes this week. We think everyone stays pristine. The toughest test will pit the explosive offense of the Falcons against the Broncos. We don't anticipate another 500 yards passing and 300 yards receiving from Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. If they are held in check and Denver forces at least 2 turnovers, the Broncos win handily. Eagles should dominate the Lions for last year's beat down. Vikings should control the Texans in a low scoring affair.

Enjoy the games everyone. Next week we will look at Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott.  Compare their stats and determine who has the better upside.  We will also look at the top 3 DFS pairing of teammates.

NFL Recap -Week 3

This week we are looking at the 1-2 teams with the best chance of making the playoffs. The percentage of teams starting with a 1-2 record and getting to the postseason is approximately 23%.

That equates to less than 1/4  of the teams that have that record. The top four teams that have a good shot of doing this are Carolina, Indy, Arizona and Bengals. Carolina and Indy play in weak divisions and can make ground up by playing opponents they are familiar with.

Arizona has enough talent on both sides of the ball to go on a winning streak of  4 to 6 games. They won 9 straight in 2015.Bengals play in a tough division and are looking up at the Ravens and Steelers. Cincy has made the playoffs the last 5 years in a row.

Their is reason for optimism in the aforementioned teams. They have to win this week or their chance will drop to approximately 10%.

Next week, we will look at the top undefeated teams and look at how they rank in a power rating index. Will your team be included?
