Time for a guest writer to grace my blog. I decided to bring GiGI back to tell all my readers about
her vacation to Atlanta Ga. It's been awhile since I've been there. I am curious to see what she experience during her trip to the Dirty South. Let's hear what she has to say!
So a friend of mine, Angie, my
dad, and I decide to take a road trip for our vacay....a 12 hr. journey down
south to the A...Hotlanta for a whole week. See what the hoopla was about. The
big houses, fast cars, and southern hospitality... After that week? We
DEFINITELY found out what it was about...
Atlanta, GA...home of the
Falcons, Coca-Cola...and a damn good time. When planning this trip, we wanted
to experience the city from both a tourist's and a local's perspective. We
didn't want a slanted view of the city...Everyone knows when you want to have a
good time in a city that's not your own, you have to talk to the locals. They hold
the secrets!! One of the things we heard through the grapevine about the A is
that the food was phenomenal. That was definitely true. Each day we tried out a
new restaurant, whether it was fast food or fine dining. The one that sticks out
the most in my mind was Sunday brunch at Ray's on the River in Sandy Springs.
HANDS DOWN...the best brunch I have ever experienced in my life. Your culinary
experience varied from stone crab legs, tiger prawns and oysters, to fried
chicken, mac n' cheese, omelette, waffles, and salmon cakes...Picturesque floor
to ceiling windows adorn the back wall, where you can eat and look out on the
Chattahoochee River and the flower gardens. It was truly a one of a kind eating
experience. Not too shabby on the pockets either.
For the tourist attractions, we
turned to the Atlanta City Pass. The ATL City Pass is a book with admission
tickets to the 5 main tourist attractions in Atlanta; Georgia Aquarium, World of
Coca-Cola, Inside CNN Tour, your choice of either the Museum of High Art or Zoo
Atlanta, and another choice of either The Fernback Museum of Natural History or
the The ATL History Center. The book is $76, and it quickly pays for itself when
you visit the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola(Both admissions are over
$30/person).
The tour of the CNN World Headquarters was great. They gave you a
behind the scenes tour of the news studios, the research rooms, and even allowed
you to sit behind a news desk and read from a teleprompter! World of Coca-Cola
was a lot of fun too. They allowed you to try over 65 flavors of Coke products
from around the world! Vegetable, kiwi, and green apple soda just to name a
few...
Zoo Atlanta had to be my favorite though. This zoo reminded me of Elmwood Zoo...small, quaint, but full of cool animals. We actually ran into a celebrity at the reptile house!! Paul Walker, who played Brian O'Connor, the leading role opposite Vin Diesel in the Fast and the Furious movies, was having a quiet date with his girlfriend, straying away from noticing eyes and autographs. Real nice guy too!
Our journey ended with a local
favorite...a trip to one of the most well known gentleman's club on the east
coast, Magic City...You hear so much about it...Rappers have long glorified
these women like stripper goddesses and we finally got to see why...It is
definitely a different breed of woman down there in the south.
Every girl had
every man's dream measurements for a woman...36-24-46...that"s right,
FORTY-SIX...must be that good southern food. We have never seen anything like
that. Even though we went on a slow night. These girls were...well...GETTIN'
IT...for lack of a better term :-)
I'll put it another way. You start out spending this!
Wind up spending THIS!
ANTE UP!
