Best Man Holiday - Movie Review

It rare that you have to wait 14 years for a sequel. Most of your cast would either not be interested or unavailable. The Best Man Holiday is the exception to that premise. The entire cast of Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Terrence Howard and Harold Perrineau have returned. Same can be said of
Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Monica Calhoun and Melissa De Sousa.

Though the cast is intact and the chemistry is still there, it's hard to pull all of these subplots
together over the core of a couple days.
Let your imagination stretch and enjoy the trailer.

What made the 1st movie special was the portrayal of African Americans in roles that showed them to be affluent and intellectual. These movies help remove the stereotypes that inhibit all cultures from viewing someone based on color and not character.

This time around the cast reunites around the Christmas Holidays. Lathan's Robin is expecting and due any day. Two of the guys are experiencing financial and career obstacles. Chestnut's Lance is nearing the end of his football career. The most humorous and best lines all belong to Quentin, played by Terrance Howard. Best Moment of the movie. A lip sync by the guys.

Be ready for a pull on your emotions as the movie winds down. Enjoy the soundtrack. It features
John Legend and Mary J. Blige. I would give this movie 3 out of 4 stars.

  1. Good review. Not as good as the first, but still charming enough because of the winning-chemistry between everybody in the cast.
