NBA Playoffs: 2nd Round Matchups

Boston vs. Wizards: Celtics will have a difficult time with Wall and Beal. Wizards can get points quickly. Boston will have to shoot well from outside to stay in this series. Wizards win this one in 6.

Cavs vs. Raptors: Lebron is too much for Toronto. Lowry has a way of not showing up for playoffs on the road. Cavs win in 5.

Warriors vs. Clippers/Jazz winner:  Warriors win in 4. It does that not matter who they play. When you combine rest and the best team, you get the broom. Durant and Curry will dominate this series.

Spurs and Rockets: This is the most intriguing match up. A case can be made for both teams. Leonard can handle Harden. Spurs in 7.

NBA Playoffs Preview: Eastern Conference

Let's look at the Eastern Conference of the NBA Playoffs. While the teams are not as good as their western counterparts, there are 4 series that a case can be made for either team.

Cavaliers open against the Pacers. Lebron James always rises his game to another level when the spotlight gets bigger. Paul George will play well but will go down in 6. Cavs defense will improve during this first round.

Celtics vs. Bulls. Thomas against Butler. While Thomas is a top 15 player in the league, Butler has Wade with him. Rondo comes back to haunt his former team. Bulls in 6 in an upset.

Raptors and Bucks. Toronto is stronger and deeper. This series is entertaining but Raptors win in 5.

Wizards and Hawks. John Wall has improved his game and will lead his team into the next round. Hawks are a surprise because they are not as good as last year. It's the Wizards in 6.

Here is the Western Conference Preview.

NBA Playoffs Preview: Western Conference

Let's look at the Western Conference where most of the elite NBA teams are.

The Warriors are the top seed and the favorite to win the title. They should beat the Blazers in 5 games. Too many weapons for Portland.

Spurs should sweep the Grizzlies. Memphis just not offensive enough to hang in a series with a team
that has multiple threats. Leonard dominates this series.

Clippers over the Jazz in 6. Clippers have a way of making things difficult. Jazz will dictate tempo and win two games at home. Chris Paul puts his team on his back and wins the last two games of this series.

The best matchup is the Rockets against the Thunder. Harden vs. Westbrook. The top MVP candidates and the leaders in triple doubles. Harden has more to work with than Westbrook and has the 3 ball analytic on his side. Three of the games during the regular season were decided by 3 points or less. If Westbrook gets help from Gibson and Mcdermott, this series goes seven. Going with Westbrook in six.

Esports in Las Vegas and Atlantic City

Esports is generating buzz in two of the largest gaming locations in the world. The impact of the gamers is too enormous to ignore. It is new to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. They are embracing the concepts by giving dedicated space to gamers participating in tournaments that are being televised by the Twitch Network.

We attended the Gears of War competition last weekend in Atlantic City. The tournament was held in Caesars Atlantic City Showroom. The top prize was $70,000. Here are some photos of that event.

The NBA has proposed an Esports league that will begin in 2018 and feature NBA2K. This is a brilliant marketing move that will expand the audience. This will result in increases in jersey sales and attendance revenue. The Sixers have already committed to having a team that will represent their brand.

More Esports news in the coming weeks. Members of the gaming industry may want to consider attending the ECGC in Atlantic City. There is sure to be a session that will highlight Esports. We plan to attend and provide coverage of that prestigious event. The dates are May 24 and 25.

Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino

The Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino opened in December 2016. They are already talking about expansion. They are unique because they have indicated what their niche is and plan to stick to it. They will cater to an Asian clientele from Las Vegas, California and the Far East. The Lucky Dragon will not have a sports book or a poker room. They will not have a entertainment line up.

This is a novel approach. It does cover a segment of players that do have a propensity to gamble and the resources to indulge. They will use their marketing budget to fly in players from China and Korea. The casino has also implemented a rolling-chip VIP customer reward program, a method for rewarding VIP play that’s popular in Macau but hasn’t caught on in Las Vegas.
VIP programs often give high-rollers a certain percentage, or commission of their overall betting back to them, regardless of whether they win or lose. With a rolling-chip program they’re given that commission in the form of chips that can only be played, not cashed in for money.
The restaurants will be themed with Asian delicacies.  We imagine most of the staff being bi-lingual with English being the second language. This has success written all over it.
