Revel Entertainment lands Rihanna & Alicia Keys

Revel Casino has scored again
with the signing of two mega performers.
+Alicia Keys will appear with Miguel on April 13th in Ovation Hall. On the 26th, +Rihanna
takes center stage for one night only.
Revel is the boss of the entertainment scene in Atlantic City. The hot artists come there.
I 'm seeing Rihanna in Philly in March. You can follow me at that concert.

This entertainment news made me wonder who I would like to see at Revel
next. My choices are +Usher, +Neyo and +Beyonce. All three have CDs to
promote and would bring international attention. Please leave a comment
on my choices. Go as far to submit one of your own. Will it be Neyo singing "Lazy Love" or "Mad"?

The artist that gets the most comments is the one I will try to go see. Will it be Usher singing "Dive" or "Confessions"? Which of these videos is
    the hottest?

Philadelphia's Daniel Tucker - Aspiring Person of the Week (4)

Daniel Tucker is making his way toward fame with the power of the pen. He is an accomplished writer who is currently working on two literary projects.
He finds time to do this and
work two jobs at Philadelphia area casinos. This task is not overwhelming to him.
A graduate of Shippenburg University in May 2011, Daniel was able to take dealing classes while on break from school.
In addition to writing, he has performed in plays and done auditions for film and theatre productions.

He has a degree in Inter Disciplinary Arts. Daniel is open to displaying his acting talents as well as his creative writing. He found time to answer seven questions.

1). What do you do when you're not working or practicing your craft?
Daniel - "When I'm not spending my time working on my art, I like to exercise, read, and find time for family and friends.
It's imperative to always work on your mind as well as your body.
And to always find time for those you care for. These are some
of the things that keep me grounded."

2). What is the last book that you read?  Daniel - "The last book I read
was a book of poetry by Nikki Giovanni. She is one of my
favorite poets and her work inspires me. Reading poetry helps me
with my writing. I like to surround myself with great art."

3).What do you use for motivation to pursue your dreams?
Daniel - "Some things I use as my motivation are, my past and all of the obstacles that I've overcome. My family and all the things I want to prove to them. And for my future children, I want to build a life for them that's inspirational as well as become a symbol of strength and security."

4). If you could be in any generation what would it be?  Daniel - "I would
be in the Harlem Renaissance in New York City. The explosion of culture
at the time featured music, art and writing. This era produced writers such as Counter Cullin and Langston Hughes."

5.) If you were in a romantic scene in a movie, who would be your co-star?   Daniel - "If I was in a romantic scene, I would definitely want it to be with my biggest celebrity crush. Kerry Washington, she is absolutely breathtaking."

6). What is the hippest city that you have ever been in?  Daniel - "I would have to say New York City."

7). What quote do you use for inspiration?  "Two quotes that inspire me come from the Great Frederick Douglass:
"I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence."
And..."Without struggle, there is no progress."

The following is an example of  Daniel's literary prose.
'Visualization
"Our forevers are marked by the memories painted upon the walls of our minds
They create murals of
Love
Life
Friends
And the tragedies that have shaped our very foundation
Each day begins with a footstep toward our envisioned destiny
And ends with a realization of greatness in the making." ~Daniel Tucker

Philadelphia's Upcoming Guitarist Lydia Giordano - Aspiring Person of the Week (3)

Surgeon is a 4 piece Progressive metal band from Philadelphia.
The band has been described  as “visceral, nihilistic beautifully-executed prog metal“* that’s all about “intensity and attitude“ . Mixing hooks with intricate melodic instrumentals Surgeon crafts each song as an individual piece of art. *Black Sabbath along with Rush, and the Melvins are all recognized as influences of the band. Surgeon's sound is best described as a haunting familiarity that lives outside of time.

Lydia Giordano is the lead guitar shredder and main songwriter in Surgeon. Her focused stage presence and “absolutely crushing guitar riffs“ reveals the confident genius behind the music.  That along with Sean Bolton’s vocals makes up the musical engine that started performing in high schools and basement parties.  Surgeon went on to work with several notable producers on early recording projects as they attempted to define their sound including the most recent release 2008's angry Guest which was recorded in Chicago with Steve Albini.

The Band has performed throughout the country. Some of the more notable
venues include TLA and the Trocadero in Philadelphia. They have done gigs
at the Delancey Room and the Knitting Factory in New York City. Surgeon has
also played to crowds in Washington D.C. and Chicago.

Most recently the band finished recording an Album with Kevin Antreassian at Backroom studios in Rockaway NJ.  The album will be titled Chemical Reign and will be released April 2013. After this the band will start touring and shopping the record to labels.

Lydia works full time as a casino dealer in Philadelphia. She was able to find time for seven questions.

1).What do you do when you're not practicing your craft?  Lydia - "I love to play card and board games. I am kind of a video nerd as well. So dealing cards is a perfect fit for me."

2). What was your first performance or show?  Lydia - "My 1st gigs were in make shift
basements or a garage where all the cool kids hung out. I've been in a band for as long
as I can remember."

3). Who is your favorite musical artist?  Lydia - "It's hard for me to pick a favorite. I like
different musicians for a variety of reasons and that constantly changes. Right now,
I am listening to the new Gojira, Skeltonwitch and Dethklok albums."

4). What do you use for motivation for pursuing your dream? Lydia - "I am naturally
motivated because I love to write music and play the guitar.. Being in the group is
motivational because working with other people puts pressure on you to do things in
a timely manner."

5). How often do you and the band rehearse? Lydia - "We rehearse twice a week for a
period of 4 hours. We are spending more time in the studio now anticipating the new
album. This way we cover everything and have a neutral perspective in the process.
The entire studio time for the album took approximately three weeks,"

6). What is your ultimate career goal?  Lydia - "Everyone wants to travel the world
and be famous, that the easy answer. The real answer is to reach people with my music
and to live a life where I grow in my experience as an artist."

7). What is your favorite quote?   Lydia -  "Everything you want is on the other side
 of fear." - George Addair

NBA Play of the Year 2012

Over the next 10 days, I will look at the year in review to give my
highlights of events. I'll include something that I attended along
with a photo or video. My NBA play of the year was Kevin Durant
and his block shot on one end and the subsequent slam on the other.
One of these would have merit consideration but to do both in the
same sequence is phenomenal.

Kobe Bryant's game against the Sixers on December 16th was the
best performance I saw in person in 2012. He dazzled the crowd
with his ball handling and shots over defenders throughout.

Beyonce and top 3 concerts of 2012

My top 3 concerts in 2012 include Beyonce, Mary J Blige and R.Kelly.
This is the order that I placed their respective performances. I took into
consideration the venue and opening acts.

Number #3 is R.Kelly. R did a throwback show at the Tower in Philly
that he entertained and showed he could be on the edge. He displayed
his vocal range with When a Woman Loves and I Believe I Can Fly.
Tamia was a good opening act that help give the show balance. She is
still attractive.

Number #2 is Beyonce. +Beyonce show at +Revel was fantastic. It was
worth every bit of  $250. She is one of the best performers I have ever
seen. Revel's Ovation Hall is a great venue to see a concert. The opening
act, Luke James was a relative newcomer and relegated the show to second place. His performance was good.

Number #1 is Mary J. Blige. Mary perform at the Mann Music Center
in Philadelphia. She rocked and related to her female dominated audience
with the fast songs and slow ballads. D'Angelo was also on that show
and this is why it was number one for me. After a almost decade
of inactivity, D'Angelo still killed it. Add Melonie Fiona as the opening
act and you have the best concert $100 can get you.
