IGNA Interview with SHFL (Shuffle Master) Entertainment

My last day in Las Vegas was spent taking pictures of the casinos
on the Strip and making some bets on NBA basketball. The highlight
of my day was my interview with two of the top executives at SHFL.
Michael Daly, VP of Online Gaming and Todd Haushalter, VP of
Business Strategy, were kind enough to sit down for some questions
about online gaming. I found my time with them informative. Tell me
what you think.

1). How does the multi-channel operations fare against casino operators that have off line only?  Michael - "The off line casino operator is at a significant disadvantage. The communication is limited to on-site interactions. The online  operator is seen by more  people and is able to fine tune his marketing."
2). Which will be the most popular? Sports betting or Poker in the online community. Todd - "Sports Betting would produce a much larger number in revenue. Due to the broad base appeal of the NFL and professional sports, the casino operator would benefit from the popularity of the teams."
3). What states have the most potential revenue for online gaming with the in state model?  Michael - "California and Texas have the most potential revenue. They have enough people to sustain gaming without relying on tourists or neighboring states for participation. Texas is stated to have the largest amount of online poker players currently."

4). What effect will in room gaming have on the typical brick and mortar casino operations?  Michael - "I am a little skeptical about the impact. The goal of the operator is to keep the guest on the floor. It does offer another revenue stream."
5). If you had an online gaming wish, what would it be? Todd -I would want to maintain the highest standard to have an online liscense. The same land base standards should be enforced  on online. If someone does something unethical, it would give our industry a black eye. The penalties in place should prevent any unscrupulous behavior."
I want to thank Michael and Todd for their time and candid answers. I want to acknowledge +Dominic Silla as well.
