Miami Heat & Lasalle Explorers - The Streaks End

What do the numbers 57 and 8 have in common? How about 27 and 16?
The first two were the amount of days between losses for the Miami
Heat and Lasalle Explorers. The second set of numbers is the amount of
games the Heat won in a row along with the Explorers reaching the Sweet
Sixteen in the NCAA tournament.

Both rides were improbable. The Heat won more games in row than any other team in NBA history other than the 1971-72 Lakers. The Heat trail late in several games during this streak.
Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh always found a way to pull those games out.

Lasalle was the underdog in each of their games in the tournament. They won the final two games during the
last seconds of each contest. Tyrone Garland made Philly
the talk of Twitter with his Southwest Philly Floater. Tyreek Duren, Ramon
Galloway and Jerrell Wright all played key roles in the run.

The aftermath of each accomplishment is still prevalent. The Heat have
all but secured home court advantage in the East and sent a message to the
league that the  NBA championship comes through Miami. Lasalle has
gain a national prominence due to their gritty play. This should increase
their chances to land a top recruit and put them on a level playing field with
Temple.
