Sports Betting-Inside the Numbers

Sports Betting is growing exponentially in popularity. While it has always been part of the landscape in other countries,it is still in the developmental stage in the United States. Prior to the repeal of _PASPA six year ago, legal bets were limited to Nevada. That has now expanded to 38 states. So in an effort to understand the business,I will take you inside the numbers on difference levels. This will allow you to make smart and responsible decisions.

Most articles that you see on Sports Betting will give opinions on who will win the game or who will perform at what level during a contest. I am taking the perspective that the number attached to the event should mitigate the play. The play is the amount of the wager. An example is a star pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, Ranger Suarez starting against the Oakland Athletics. The price to wager on the Phillies Money line for that game was -235. The money line is a wager that on who will win the game ,regardless of the score. While the Phillies are the best team reordwise in the MLB and the  A's are one of the worst, the price of taking the money line is exorbitant. The win on -235would bring you $100 and you would have $335 in your pocket. A loss would cost your $235.So you would have to win 3 bets at that money line number to recoup your initial loss. The Phillies loss the game 6-2.

If you are deadset on making a wager at this price,an intelligent approach is to include the bet in a parlay. While the price will weaken the payoff ,the odds of you hitting the parlay have increased without the cash overlay.

We just went inside the number. Before lookung at the odds that are posted, have a price in your mind that is optimal to yourbankroll.Do not exceed that price regardless of the conditions associated with the teams. While Sports Betting is fun,it's more enjoyable when you are discipline and strategic.

Gaming Resolutions for 2018

We want to share our resolutions for 2018. Not the personal ones. They consisted of eating health and exercising daily. Both of them have already been broken. We want to share the professional ones that reflect what we want to do in regard to gaming.  We will give you 3.

Number One is to provide more E sports news and notes. This market is growing in popularity. The gaming community is looking for ways to monetize it. We will challenge ourselves to find and share ways to do it.

Number Two is to become more socially engaged on Instagram. We will commit to posting photos from followers and vendors daily.

Number Three is to promote our Smart Responsible Gaming concepts. The app has new features that include the feed from ESPN and how to track your gaming spend. We will attend a minimum of two gaming conferences to raise our brand awareness.

We plan to have more success with our professional resolutions opposed to the personal ones. Follow us and measure our levels of accountability. Our 2nd and 3rd resolutions are quantifiable and easy to track. Our first resolution is more challenging because we will need content from the E Sports community of players and leagues internationally to be relevant. We embrace the journey.

AGA Responsible Gaming Week

This week is the American Gaming Association Responsible Gaming Week. It runs from August 1st thru 5th. Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW) was created by the AGA in 1998 to increase awareness of problem gambling among gaming industry employees and customers and to promote responsible gaming nationwide.

The AGA and the entire gaming industry realize that education is essential to promoting responsible play and increasing awareness of gambling disorders, and RGEW provides gaming companies with an opportunity to expand on work they do every day educating employees and patrons about the issue.

In preparation for RGEW the AGA and the  (NCRG), released new responsible gaming videos. The video by the NCRG, “What is a Gambling Disorder?” , “explains in simple language the science that informs our understanding of gambling disorders.” The AGA’s video, “What Are the Odds?”, is meant to “illustrate the house advantage inherent in all casino games and demonstrates how America’s favorite game – the slot machine works.

I support this initiative. My app is indicative of my commitment to this endeavor.  The best practices are the preventive ones. Who better to provide this information than the companies and the employees that work in gaming.  They know the warning signs that lead to the onset of problem gambling.   Keep it fun!
